Two Islands Bonsai is a bonsai practice geared to creation, exploration and education.
At the helm is Robert Allaway, a bonsai professional who is passionate about exploring the use of bonsai techniques and various aesthethic principles applied to our native plant species.
Robert remains committed to honing his craft by consistently taking somewhat ordinary raw material and applying advanced techniques and creative insight and turning them into unique and cherished pieces in his collection. The ability to work with such material he considers critical in the evolutionary journey of a bonsai professional.
Committed to self learning, the educational journey is ever evolving but never ending. A key aspect to bonsai and one we relish.
Another aspect of this beautiful art form we thoroughly enjoy is the creation of compositions, be it at home; custom installations or for exhibitions. It provides an outlet for our freedom and expression of ideas, interpretations and creativity. Whether we are tapping into our culture, past or unique flora and fauna the connections are limitless.
A sample video of us exploring the use of different accents for a native composition seen below.
