An exciting new offering that we are pleased to present is the unique opportunity to hire one or more of our trees for your special event. Some recent client Testimonials:

“Had a really cool, extremely educational catch up with Robert. We worked side by side on a couple of trees and I learned loads from his example. Would highly recommend anyone wanting to learn and develop skills have a chat with Robert. Looking forward to next time. “

“Had a 2 hour 1 on 1 session at my house with Robert and it was the exact thing I needed. Workshops being limited in terms of number of trees and bigger groups it was great to add this type of session for the time between the workshops. Going through most of my small collection of trees and getting some advice on next steps and good conversations on everything from fertiliser and pests techniques and Bonsai culture. Having a second set of eyes and ideas was really helpful. For anyone starting out or even wanting to progress I highly recommend both Robert and the 1 on visits to your own garden if that’s possible. “

“Just had an awesome half day workshop with Robert from Two Islands Bonsai. He worked to reset the front and style on a spruce I purchased from the Christchurch National Convention two years ago. I really wanted to highlight the huge hollow as the tree’s main feature, and he did a great job designing it and setting it up for its future. “

A bonsai professional has to master the wearing of many hats. Pictured below is the work going into potting up a Podocarpus Totara matapouri blue airlayer that was performed a few months prior. Taking a well known propagation technique and applying it not only on our native plant species but on a larger scale, and at the same time constantly searching for the limits of what is possible.
